Queen Rania maintains ‘toned and trim figure’ at 52 which is ‘inspirational’

Queen Rania of Jordan, 52, stepped out at her son Crown Prince Hussein’s wedding looking fabulous in a tight Dior floor-length dress, showing off her fantastic figure.

Dr Tamara Alireza, a Functional Medicine Specialist at Skinfluencer London spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk to explain how she maintains this figure and general good health, even with her “treats”.

She claimed: “As a treat, Queen Rania supposedly enjoys dark chocolate and the polyphenols in the cacao can act as probiotics, helping the beneficial good gut bacteria to thrive.

“Dark chocolate is also an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, which enhances skin’s glow.”

Queen Rania opened up about her love of dark chocolate during an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2006, saying “the darker the better”, when it comes to her preferences for the sweet snack.

In addition, as a Muslim, Queen Rania refrains from alcohol which is a great health benefit, according to Dr Tamara.

She opined: “It is known that Queen Rania abstains from alcohol and smoking. Both of these are inflammatory, so keeping inflammation in the body down along with the foods synonymous with a healthy diet can slow down the body’s ageing process.

“Alcohol affects the gut microbiome, which can alter immune defences. It also causes dehydration and systemic inflammation when consumed excessively, this inhibits detox, affects skin appearance, and can cause puffiness and bloating so it’s very wise of her to avoid them.”

Queen Rania certainly enjoys a Middle Eastern diet, as she admitted in an interview with The View in 2010 that her favourite sandwich was houmous in pitta bread.

Dr Tamara added: “Another favourite snack synonymous with this diet is pitta bread with houmous and crudites (chopped, raw vegetables, namely cucumber, peppers, carrots).

“Aside from being delicious, hummus is high in fibre, which keeps the gut happy and can minimise blood sugar spikes. It is also a good source of protein, iron, zinc, and folate, amongst other vitamins and minerals.”

Lisa Winn, a health and well-being coach, also spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk to suggest Queen Rania’s likely exercise routine.

She said: “Queen Rania likely follows a range of exercises such as cardiovascular activities (jogging, cycling, or swimming) and strength training exercises, either with weights or just using body weight, to build and maintain muscle strength.

“As part of this, flexibility and stretching exercises are also going to promote joint mobility and prevent injuries.

“Doing activities such as yoga or Pilates, which focus on stretching and improving flexibility, will promote relaxation and mindfulness, aligning with her commitment to mental well-being.

“What we can learn from this is the importance of combining a range of exercises and healthy eating to promote well-being.

“If people embrace a holistic approach to fitness like Queen Rania, then they might feel their physical and mental health get the royal treatment too.”

Health coach Edwina Jenner exclusively told Express.co.uk that Queen Rania’s trim figure at the age of 52 can only be achieved through “regular training”.

She explained: “Queen Rania has been reported to enjoy running to maintain her fabulous figure, which at 52, is inspirational for many women.

“A figure as toned and trim as hers could only be achieved and maintained through regular training, including cardiovascular workouts and some form of weight-bearing activity.

“Nutrition would also be a key part of her well-being. Not only is her figure fabulous, but her hair and skin are glowing, which is also a result of the food she eats.”
