Cooking on an open fire is something many people enjoy when camping, but it can be hard to prepare fresh food in the great outdoors.
When it comes to breakfast, many campers opt for a full English – though few know that it can be made days in advance for an even easier meal.
Sharing the “must-try” meal on her TikTok profile, Sara Buckley (@nottheworstmom) showed followers how to make a quick breakfast burrito.
She said: “Breakfast burritos are by far the best breakfast for camping. But the trick is you make them at home, double wrap them in foil, freeze them, and then you heat them over the campfire.
“This way you can enjoy a hot breakfast on a cold morning that you don’t have to prep, and requires zero utensils. And the only rubbish is a little foil.”

To make the flavoursome wraps, Sara used a combination of affordable ingredients including tortilla wraps, vegetables, potatoes, and Mexican-style seasoning. She noted that all of them can be used fresh or frozen.
For the tastiest results, she recommended the following fillings:
- Potatoes, cut into cubes
- Two peppers, diced
- One onion, diced
- Bacon, ham, sausage or Spam
- Eggs
- Cheese, grated
- Tortilla wraps
- Seasoning of choice – paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper

Sara started by frying off the diced onion, peppers in the seasoning mix before setting them aside for later.
Once the vegetable filling was cooked, she moved on to cooking the potatoes – which can be done in the oven, or a pan until they are golden and crispy.
The TikTok cook then fried off the sliced meat and added the eggs – approximately two per person.
Once the meat was cooked, she added the grated cheese to the pan and stirred until the ingredients were scrambled.
To assemble the burritos, the TikTok star layered two sheets of tin foil on top of one another, though she added that the inner layer can be replaced with parchment paper instead.
She noted that this is a crucial step when it comes to cooking the pre-made burritos over the campfire.
The avid camper then placed on tortilla onto the foil base and loaded it up with the egg, cheese and meat scramble before adding the vegetables and potatoes.
Sara then wrapped it up into a tight burrito and rolled it in the foil to secure the filling, leaving the ends folded at each end for “great handles”.
Sara said: “These are really easy to customise… so just write the ingredients on the foil.
“If you do write on them, remember that since you’re cooking them over the fire, the ink will disappear. So keep an eye on where they go!”
To store the pre-made burritos, the avid camper placed them in a zip-lock bag and put them in the freezer.
She warned: “You don’t want them totally frozen when you cook them because they are more likely to burn on the outside before the inside is defrosted.”
When it comes to cooking them, she recommended flipping them over the fire for a few minutes until the tortilla is crunchy.
