I made cupcakes in my air fryer using the easiest recipe ever

Air fryers work in the same way as convection ovens but preheat and cook the food more quickly.

They also use heat and air to cook food evenly, reducing the need for any oil to be used in the cooking process.

I often use my air fryer to bake savoury food but I decided to see how cupcakes would bake seeing as I use the oven to bake them all of the time.

Cupcakes tend to take up to 30 minutes in the oven so I was impressed to see that the recipe book which came with the air fryer said they would only take eight minutes.

I also used a super easy recipe, meaning the cupcakes were ready from start to finish in under 15 minutes.

Ingredients:

175g cake butter or unsalted butter

175g caster sugar

Three eggs

One teaspoon of vanilla extract

175g self-raising flour

Dash of milk, optional

Method:

Start by creaming the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, making sure it is all fully incorporated.

Next, add the three eggs to the mixture along with a tablespoon of the self-raising flour to stop it from curdling.

Once mixed, add in the vanilla and the remaining flour, mixing until fully combined.

I then filled up 12 cupcake cases with the mixture, with 10 going into the oven and two going into the air fryer.

The air fryer fitted around 10 of the cupcakes but I wanted to start with two to see how they would turn out.

The Tefal air fryer is great because it has dual drawers meaning more than one thing can be cooked at any given time.

According to the company, it cooks food 40 percent faster which can help Britons save on energy bills.

The cupcakes took just eight minutes to cook at 160C and came out of the appliance looking golden brown and smelling delicious.

They also tasted delicious and were super light and fluffy when I broke into the inside of the cake. The cupcakes managed to hold their shape well in the air fryer too considering they didn’t have a tin to rest in.

I also loved how the Tefal air fryer had a cake option on the cooking panel which made it super easy to navigate.
