Iceland is the latest supermarket to recall a popular food product as it has been deemed unsafe for customers.<\/p>\n
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) told affected shoppers: “Iceland is recalling Cathedral City Cheese & Ham Gratin because Listeria monocytogenes has been found in the product.”<\/p>\n
The FSA issued a risk statement regarding the recall. It stated: “The product listed above is contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes which can cause illness if consumed.<\/p>\n
“Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea.<\/p>\n
“Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.”<\/p>\n

More info<\/p>\n The FSA assured customers that the supermarket was taking action to ensure the safety of its customers.<\/p>\n It said: “Iceland Foods is recalling the above product and has issued point-of-sale notices to their customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.”<\/p>\n The notice read: “We are taking the precautionary measure of recalling this batch of the above product because of the presence of Listeria monocytogenes. Only the Best Before Date listed in this notice is affected.”<\/p>\n The supermarket warned customers to “not consume” the product. Instead, Iceland shoppers should check if they have the product, which can be done by taking a photo of the notice or writing down the details.<\/p>\n Iceland urged customers to\u00a0return packaging to any Iceland store where a full refund will be given, no receipt required.<\/p>\n Those with further questions\u00a0should contact Iceland Customer Care on\u00a00800 328 0800.<\/p>\n The FSA echoed the advise: “If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund (with or without a receipt).
