Traditional Ilish fry (Hilsa Fry)


  1. 1 Hilsa Fish
  2. 3 TBSP Mustard oil
  3. 1 TSP Red Chili powder
  4. 1/2 TSP turmeric powder
  5. 1/2 TSP Coriander powder
  6. to taste Salt
  7. 1 cup Chopped Onion
  8. 1 TBSP Chopped Garlic
  9. 7/8 Green Chili


  1. Cut the fish into medium sized pieces and wash it properly.

  2. Marinate it with salt, Chili, turmeric and Coriander powder for 30 minutes.

  3. Heat oil in a pan and fry the fish in a low flame.

  4. When the fish is light brown in colour add chopped onion, garlic and green chilies in it.

  5. Once both sides of the fish turn into brown take them off and put them in a serving dish.
