Irish Scones

A soft drop biscuit. Recipe from Ireland.


  1. 2 c. Flour
  2. 1/2 tsp. Salt
  3. 3 tsp. Baking powder
  4. 1/2 c. Sugar
  5. 1/3 c. Shortening (crisco)
  6. 1 c. Dried cranberries, or raisins


  1. Mix together the dry ingredients

  2. Add the shortening and milk. Mix by hand.

  3. Add the dried cranberries (I also stir in some cinnamon).

  4. Drop on greased cookie sheets. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar

  5. Bake at 425 degrees for 11 min. (or 350 degrees for 20 min.) or until lightly browned.

  6. To use for strawberry shortcake… omit the fruit, cut in half and top with sliced strawberries and cool whip or whipped cream.
