Garlic Turkey Club

Was watching John Favreau’s “The Chef Show” on Netflix. They were making Cubano sandwiches and I just started craving sandwiches, and this recipe became the result of my cravings.

Ingredients

  1. 2 5-6 inch slices french or italian bread, cut in half
  2. 1 roma tomato
  3. Iceburg lettuce
  4. 2 slices muenster cheese
  5. 8 slices sundried tomato deli turkey
  6. Garlic aioli
  7. 4 pieces hardwood smoked bacon
  8. Butter
  9. Ground black pepper
  10. Minced parsley

Steps

  1. Place bacon in a cool skillet or griddle and set to 300°. Cook for 8 minutes (or until crispy), turning occasionally. When done, place bacon on paper towel to get rid of excess grease (it also helps to place another paper towel on top and pat the bacon dry).

  2. Put separate non-stick skillet on medium-low heat. Take about 1 tablespoon of butter and spread on one slice of bread, covering the face of the loaf. Sprinkle with black pepper and parsley. Set face-down on skillet and cook until lightly browned. Repeat all of this step for each slice.

  3. Preheat oven to 250°. Spread about 1 tablespoon of aioli on each slice of bread. Layer on 4 slices of turkey and 1 slice of muenster on each bottom half, then two slices of bacon on each top half and keep in oven for 4-5 minutes or until cheese is melted.

  4. Add tomato and lettuce and close the sandwich.

  5. Makes 2 sandwiches.
