Fogo de Avo (Avocado Hot Sauce)

I’m on a big hot sauce kick trying to find my “Main 4” for my Boca de Fogo line of hot sauces and salsas. This one will DEFINITELY make the cut! Being from SoCal, avocado is something that is always on hand in my produce basket and is a staple in just about every Mexican dish and snack I make. This “is a medium-hot” hot sauce so it should be management for most. Enjoy it on meats like chicken or steak or your favorite street taco!

Ingredients

  1. 1 medium avocado, seeded and quartered
  2. 1 jalapeno, stemmed and cut in half
  3. 1/4 white onion, chopped
  4. 3/4 cup water
  5. 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  6. 1 tbs white vinegar
  7. 3/4 tsp sea salt

Steps

  1. Place all ingredients into a food processor or blender and puree until smooth. I funnel it into a squeeze bottle or hot sauce bottle for easier keeping and convenience when using at the table.

  2. Keep refrigerated. Should last about a week.
