Chocolate Mug Cake

This is a super simple, quick recipe for when you need something chocolatey, but dont want to bake a huge batch of something. It’s also an awesome recipe for kids to make. Recipe adapted from:


  1. Dry Ingredients:
  2. 4 tbsp. all purpose flour
  3. 3 tbsp. granulated sugar
  4. 1 heaping tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
  5. 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  6. Pinch salt
  7. Wet Ingredients:
  8. 5 tbsp. milk
  9. 1 tbsp. unsalted butter, melted
  10. 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  11. 2 tbsp. semi-sweet chocolate chips


  1. In a bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients. Then whisk in the wet ingredients until well combined. Stir in the chocolate chips. Pour this mixture into a greased mug (at least 12 oz. size or a little bigger).

  2. Pop the mug into the microwave for 90 seconds. That’s it. Sprinkle some powdered sugar over the top or plop a scoop of ice cream on top and enjoy it!
