Katie had a history of starting and quitting various training and dieting programmes after failing to see the results she wanted. But while her feelings and motivation to stick to these numerous plans differed, one thing didn’t – and that was her longing to change her body shape and drop some fat.

Having spent years crash dieting and not losing the weight she wanted to, she was forced to do something about it.

Katie said: “I have been overweight most of my life and after being told I needed to lose weight for an operation, I knew I needed to start making a change.”

Unsure of where to start, she was first introduced to personal training after meeting PT Nathan Kennedy at one of his classes.

She quickly realised how much she enjoyed his style of motivation and decided to join his team after giving up on trying and failing on her own.

“I started my weight loss journey in January 2021 where I slowly started to lose weight,” she recalled.

“But I wasn’t getting the exercise or the nutritional education I needed.”

She revealed she began to see big changes when she started her new plan, which gave her help and support along the way.

“Nathan would message me with advice and tips on what I was doing which helped me massively,” Katie beamed.

“Then in March 2021, I took the leap to join up with NKPT and since then I have lost three stone.”

Nathan has been a part of the fitness industry for over a decade with his lien coaching business striving to inspire people to exercise right and well.

His website states that “regular exercise is the key to overall health,” as Katie learnt through her own transformation.

So what kind of training did she do to drop fat fast?

Nathan split her training into resistance using free weights and machines which focused on a push, pull, and legs-style of programming.

Her programme includes lots of compound exercises such as squats, deadlifts and various pressing movements that are designed to build and strengthen muscle.

And she finishes every workout with a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) blast to make sure her body is in the “cardio heart rate” zone to push her fitness levels.

HIIT workouts are so popular because they’re “extremely effective” for weight loss.

The short bursts of exercise help people burn fat and build lean muscle at the same time, forcing the body to use energy from fat rather than carbs.

And it’s safe to say Katie loves it and is now a regular gym goer, only having a couple of sessions with Nathan.

“I have two personal training sessions a month, a nutrition plan, a food tracker and monthly check-ins with Nathan himself, which helps to keep me on track,” she said, now feeling more confident to train alone.

And she doesn’t plan on stopping there. “I’m looking to lose another four or five stone before my 30th birthday, which will be in September 2023,” she added.

“I’m very lucky Nathan understands my goals and my abilities, he really is a brilliant PT. He has got my goals in mind and pushes me every day to keep going.”
