Toning up is something many will hope to do when on a weight loss journey. A personal trainer has shared an at home workout to help burn belly fat and carve six pack abs.
Shrinking the waistline is no easy task and those hoping to slim need to burn belly fat for ab definition to be visible.
This can be done by exercising regularly and following a healthy diet plan.
If hoping to tone stomach muscles, personal trainer Aimee Victoria Long shared five moves that will help slimmers get started.
She detailed the best workouts to do at home and how to perform them.
“The slower the better, lie on your back, hands to the sides of your temples and bring the knees above your hips into table top,” Aimee explained.
“Twist opposite knee toward opposite elbow whilst lifting your head going through the bicycle motion. Exhale as you rotate.”
Using props such as a Pilates ball can increase the intensity of the move, Aimee stated.
The expert continued: “Bring yourself into a box position, so your wrists sit under your shoulders and knees under your hips. Take a Pilates ball in between the thighs and squeeze into the ball.
“Lift your knees around two to three inches off the floor and start to make small squeezes into the ball continuously. Reset when you need to!”
Side Plank with rotation (both sides)
Targeting the side of the abs can help whittle down the midriff.
“Lie on your side, feet together and one forearm directly below your shoulder. ‘Knit’ the rib cage in and raise your hips until your body is in a straight line from head to toe,” she said.
“Raise your top and and keep your hips square to the front, rotate your top arm through the triangle under your armpit, repeat this for the duration of the exercise.”
Aimee explained: “Lie on your back and lift your legs to the ceiling.
“Keep both legs forward and straight, slowly lower your legs down towards the floor, but ensure your lower back stays connected to the floor.”
As well as working the core with toning moves, the expert suggested adding calorie-burning moves into a workout.
She said: “This is something to elevate the heart rate and challenge the core.
“Start in a plank position, wrists under the shoulder, legs straight and create a slight rounding in the spine so there is no dipping in the lower back.
“Pull the knees in either side then return to the starting point. Doing this nice and quickly will keep the heart rate high.”
Combining cardio moves with toning exercises can help burn belly fat and create six pack abs.
