Most people don’t watch what they eat over Christmas, but those who are dieting could find that this season is their biggest challenge. For slimmers who are genuinely concerned about the sudden increase in carbs they’re consuming, there are simple foods that they can turn to, to make their body – feel better.

Many know that Christmas isn’t the best time for slimmers to make big changes to their diet, but swapping chocolatey treats for healthier alternatives is a great start to maintaining weight loss.
Kamille Schaffner, founder of My London Nutritionist, previously told Express.co.uk of the different ways a slimmer can combat overindulging at Christmas and reducing that bloated feeling.
For a slimmer to get back on track in January, she advised: “Have one fully meatless (ideally vegan) day each week where your main focus is on eating fresh vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts and seeds.
“It can be smoothies, soups or salads, but the idea is to dramatically increase fibre content that will help your body with removing previously accumulated toxins out.”

Kamilla also recommends slimmers eat high quality protein everyday, such as Greek yoghurt to keep the digestive tract healthy and functioning.
She explained: “Eat high quality high protein yoghurt, such as Greek, every day. It is one of the humble superfoods that keeps your immune system strong and digestion working optimally due to being high in probiotics (good bacteria).
“Moreover, it is very versatile: you can have it as a sweet snack or breakfast by adding fruits, berries, oats and nut butters; or if savoury is your thing, then you can team it up with freshly cut carrots, cucumbers, celery sticks and a handful of nuts for a perfect healthy late-afternoon snack.”
The nutritionist also advised minimising the consumption of meat in favour of fish, adding: “It will have a tremendous effect on management of post-festive body weight and energy levels.
“Fish is a very lean protein which will keep you feeling fuller for longer with a fraction of calories.
“Cod, salmon, tuna, sardines, trout and seafood are high in Vitamin D and Omega-3 essential fatty acids, Zinc and Selenium – the very nutrients we all need to keep winter blues at bay and help in regulating our immunity.”
After an excessive amount of alcohol throughout the party season, Kamilla also outlined the importance of remaining hydrated, advised slimmers to drink water, fresh juices and herbal teas as often as possible.
