Best known for co-hosting Today with Des and Mel with Des O’Connor and Let’s Do Lunch with Gino D’Acampo, Melanie Sykes is a staple of British television. Mel shot to fame as the Boddingtons girl advertising the golden bitter in the mid-1990s, but now the stunning brunette is known for her sexy pictures on Instagram. The 49-year-old regularly shares images of her flawless physique on the social media site. So how did she achieve her amazing bikini body?

The mum-of-two – to to Roman, 17, and Valentino, 15 – focuses on eating good carbs like sweet potatoes and never skips meals.

Melanie credited one book in particular for her changed outlook on food, saying: “I’m addicted to Amelia Freer’s Eat. Nourish. Glow. I haven’t lost weight because I’m quite muscular, but I’m definitely a leaner size 10. When I first started it last June I cut out everything she recommends – sugar, dairy, gluten, alcohol and caffeine.”

Some of Melanie’s favourite recipes from the book include prawn curry and shepherd’s pie.

The presenter admitted that her teenage sons are also big fans of the healthy meals.

She said: “They’ve got no idea they’re healthy dishes! Sometimes I might make myself something separate – if I do have a bolognese, for example, I’ll have courgetti while they’ll have actual spaghetti, but their diet isn’t hugely different to what I eat.”

As well as dieting, the TV presenter spends a lot of time working out.

In a recent interview, Melanie revealed she goes to the gym up to four times a week.

She said: “I work out an average of four times a week – a mixture of weight training, high-intensity boot camp classes, tennis, barre classes and reformer Pilates.”

And the TV presenter often shares her workouts on Instagram, recently uploading an image ahead of a hot yoga session.

“Early hot yoga sesh for me and back to the @thefrank_mag office aka my dining table are you getting some exercise in today? #hotyoga #movingmeditation #leggings.,” she captioned the shot, which she shared to her 206k followers.

Fellow TV star Chelsee Healey has also transformed her body.

The Hollyoaks actress lost two stone following the birth of her daughter Coco in 2017.

Speaking in an interview with The Sun, she said: “I’m lucky, I’ve snapped back. I haven’t stopped eating but I’ve just lost the two stone I gained.”
