Letitia Dean rapidly went from 10st 4lb to 8st 3lb by changing her diet and exercise regime. Fans of the actress have taken to social media to praise her transformation.

New photos of the star, who plays the iconic Sharon Watts on EastEnders, were released by the BBC.

Twitter user @julecooks commented: “Wow, Sharon has lost some weight, looking good.”

@NYCHombre added: “She’s gorgeous to start, but now she looks better than ever. How can that be possible? Just stunning!”

@RyanGSoapKing11 stated: “OMG she looks 20 years old.”

But what habits did Letitia put in place to lose this weight?

The actress experienced hateful body shaming by EasteEnders’ fans when she was bigger on the show.

On the soap’s spin-off show Secrets from the Square, she revealed that she “had quite a lot of horrible things said” about her.

She was branded “fat”, and haters joked that the other actors couldn’t “fit on the same screen as her”.

To make a change, Letitia focused on overhauling her diet and exercise habits.

In conversation with Closer, she explained that she started going to the gym “for the first time” to get in shape for High School Musical the Live Show in 2008, where she played Ms Darbus.

It is no longer a chore and now running and boxercise are her “favourite things”.

For those hoping to lose weight, picking a sport that you enjoy is fundamental.

Slimmers are much more inclined to stick to a workout regime that they do not dread.

Letitia also reached a calorie deficit by cutting down to 1,300 calories daily.

Within these calories, the actress focussed on fuelling her body with nutritious foods.

One of her weight loss meals of choice was pitta bread with a grilled skinless chicken breast and lots of green vegetables.

High-quality proteins such as chicken are effective for weight loss in that they fill you up and are relatively low calorie.

The benefits of her newfound healthy lifestyle were more than just physical, with the actress also noticing a mental shift.

She revealed: “It was incredible. I found I had so much more energy than when I used to eat junk food.”

But it wasn’t an easy ride, as she previously admitted to a life of yo-yo dieting when she took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2007.
