James Martin, star of Saturday Morning and regular chef on This Morning has always been open about his weight. When he took part in Strictly Come Dancing back in 2005, he reportedly lost an impressive five stone due to the rigorous training. Since then, his weight has fluctuated, but earlier this year, James shared that he had lost another 2st 3lb.

James came fourth on the popular dancing show with professional dancing partner Camilla Dallerup. 

When fellow TV chef Simon Rimmer took part in the show, James sent him a good luck message and revealed how intense the Strictly training would be for him. 

James revealed: “I sent Simon a text saying, ‘Good luck, you’ll need it’. 

“I told him, forget what they told you, forget all of that one day training. 

“Once you get past week four, it’s seven days a week, 10 hours a day minimum.” 

Following one of his cookery shows, he revealed he had shed a few more stone earlier in the year. 

It came after several fans commented on him looking slimmer. 

James tweeted: “Haha thanks all. Lost 14 kilos (2st 3lb) got to get new clothes.”

It comes after James explained how social media trolls forced him to reassess his weight. 

Back in 2018, he told the Sun: “I looked on social media and every comment was about me being fat.

“So I lost a stone and a half. And no doubt I’ll lose another stone on this tour.”

He also spoke about feeling self-conscious when he saw himself on TV. 

James explained: “I’ve lost a stone-ish. 

“I just think it’s a lifestyle thing and also looking at yourself on TV.

“I don’t really watch the programmes that I do because you get critical of yourself. You kind of watch and go, ‘Oh God there’s a bit of a chin happening there.’

“And everybody’s TVs are bigger now. Before you used to watch TV on a small one and now they’re massive,” he told the Daily Mail. 

James, who is 6ft 4in tall, previously weighed 19st 17lb at his heaviest.

So how did James lose weight? 

In terms of diet, James reportedly cut back on fats, including butter.

But he said it was “hard work because I’m a big bloke”. 

“So I’ve really got to watch what I eat and drink, and make sure I exercise regularly,” the chef added. 

And fans have noticed his slimmer frame. 

Leslia Farnfield commented on Instagram: “Looking soo good.” 

Julia Day added: “Isn’t he just ! Looks so handsome after losing a couple of £££s.” 

“You look absolutely incredible,” Doris said.
