All the Delicious Fall Drinks You Should Order From Starbucks' Secret Menu

This year has been anything but ordinary, but there is one thing you can depend on, and it's that Starbucks' beloved pumpkin spice latte is back. If you're not a big PSL fan, or just want to try something new, there are plenty of other options to try on the coffee shop's fall "secret" menu. Now, you need to know that the secret menu isn't a tangible item (though some have made it on the real menu, including the medicine ball tea). It's a collection of drinks created by Starbucks lovers, and all of these options below have been specially designed for autumn. Many of them are made with the company's pumpkin spice sauce, and you can only order those during fall, or as long as your local store has the syrup in stock.

One of the best ways to order any of these drinks is to do it on the app so you could make your customizations and pick it up in-store or through the drive-thru. (If you do it this way, you'll minimize contact.) If you decide to order in person, you should describe the drink by the recipe, instead of the name. Although some of these options are so popular, the barista will know what you're talking about, that isn't necessarily the case for all of them. Here are six concoctions to try the next time you need a sweet caffeine fix.

The Starbucks Secret Menu, "for fans, by fans," features several seasonal options. One of the many delicious sounding items is the caramel pumpkin macchiato. It's a seasonal spin on the beloved caramel macchiato, which you can actually order year-round. Here's how to order it.

Caramel Pumpkin Macchiato

If you need a bit of a boost to get you out of bed in the morning, this espresso drink will do the trick.

  • Order a caramel macchiato.
  • Substitute the vanilla syrup for the pumpkin spice sauce.
  • Add the pumpkin spice topping.

Both pumpkin and caramel are delicious on their own, so putting them together is one decadent idea. Just like most of these drinks, this option is quite sweet. To cut down on the sugar, simply order fewer pumps of syrup.

Cinderella Latte

Another drink that has been making the rounds recently is the "Cinderella" latte. It was created by Erica from the Instagram account @happiestteesonearth, who worked at the coffee chain for seven years. She writes in an Instagram post that she created the concoction to "spread a little magic" to her customers and co-workers, though she never imagined the beverage would become so beloved. "I had no idea when I created this magical drink that it would be loved and enjoyed by people everywhere. It's a dream come true," she says. To try the mix for yourself, here's how to order it.

This recipe is pretty straightforward. It starts with a PSL and requires one simple substitution.

  • Order a pumpkin spice latte. (It can be hot, iced, or as a Frappuccino.)
  • Substitute half of the pumpkin spice sauce pumps for white mocha. (Erica notes that if you have a serious sweet tooth, you can opt for full pumps of both flavors.)

And enjoy! Erica reveals the reason behind the name is because the white pumpkin reminded her of Cinderella's coach. Although I'm a boring black coffee drinker myself, I decided to give this one a try. I ordered a grande iced pumpkin spiced latte and asked for half of the pumpkin spice sauce pumps to be swapped for white mocha. According to my receipt, it had two pumps of pumpkin spice sauce and two pumps of white mocha. My thoughts? It's delicious—like fall in a cup. It's sweet without being too sugary and made for a lovely post-lunch treat.

Great Pumpkin Latte

If a killer clown is a little too scary for your taste, we have another idea that will bring you right back to your childhood. In homage to It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, we present: the Great Pumpkin Latte. Here's what to do.

  • Order a pumpkin spice latte.
  • Replace half of the pumpkin spice sauce pumps for toffee nut syrup.

If you're ordering a grande size of this drink, it would be two pumps of pumpkin spice sauce and two pumps of toffee nut syrup, if that makes things a little easier. (You'll have to double-check what the exact amounts are for a tall or grande.) Although I've seen most people enjoy this nutty latte hot, you can also order it iced or even blended up into a Frappuccino.

IT Frappuccino

Of course, with Halloween just a few weeks away, we found a few drinks that will be a tasty treat come October 31. (Or any other day of autumn, for that matter.) In honor of the horror film IT Chapter Two, which premiered this past year, Starbucks sippers have created a beverage inspired by Pennywise himself. Dubbed the "IT Frappuccino," it's a sweet blended mix topped with "blood." Here's how to get your own.

  • Order a vanilla bean crème Frappuccino.
  • Add strawberry purée.
  • Add whipped cream.

Yes, that's it—no complicated concoctions here. The strawberry syrup is a super simple addition that yields absolutely delicious results. As a bonus, because the base doesn't contain any coffee, it's a kid-friendly option. (It's also a nice choice for those looking to cut back on caffeine.) Even if you're not a Stephen King fan like myself, you can still enjoy this fruit-flavored option.

Pumpkin Birthday Cake Latte

It's not even my birthday, but once I read about this drink on Bustle, I had to get my hands on one. The pumpkin birthday cake latte is a sweeter spin on the traditional PSL and can be enjoyed hot, iced, or blended up into a Frappuccino. To get your own, here's what to do:

  • Order a pumpkin spice latte in your favorite form.
  • Substitute half of the pumpkin sauce pumps for equal pumps of hazelnut and vanilla syrup. (For a grande, this would be two pumps of pumpkin sauce and one pump each of hazelnut and vanilla syrup.)
  • Add cinnamon dolce sprinkles.

To ensure a proper taste test, we tried both the hot and iced versions of this beverage. The overall consensus is the latte is very sweet, probably thanks to the cinnamon dolce sprinkles right at the top. (However, one person on our staff preferred it over a regular pumpkin spice latte.) So, if you take your coffee on the sugary side, this is the drink for you.

Pumpkin Cheesecake Frappuccino

If you prefer to drink your dessert, the pumpkin cheesecake Frappuccino is a sweet treat to try this autumn. To give it a go, here's what you need to do:

  • Order a pumpkin spice crème Frappuccino.
  • Add cinnamon dolce syrup. (Do one pump for a tall, two pumps for a grande, and three pumps for a venti.)
  • Add vanilla bean powder. (Do one scoop for a tall, two scoops for a grande, and three scoops for a venti.)
  • Add white mocha syrup. (Do one pump for a tall, two pumps for a grande, and three pumps for a venti.)

Remember to specify that you want the crème-based pumpkin spice Frappuccino when you order because there is also a plain pumpkin spice version. This blended drink doesn't have any coffee in it, so you can even let your kids steal a sip. (That is if you don't slurp down the entire thing in one gulp.)

Now that you have the recipes make sure to head to your local Starbucks to try these concoctions while you still can.
