Tom Kerridge often shares recipes on his social media, many of them included in his book Tom Kerridge’s Lose Weight and Get Fit. This time, the chef shared a weight loss breakfast recipe which he promised was a “game changer”.

The chef recently shared a picture of breakfast oats with a caption reading: “Good morning. My apple and cardamom overnight oats are a game changer.”

The recipe is ideal for those who are trying to lose weight and it is included in his book Tom Kerridge’s Lose Weight and Get Fit, which contains “high-flavour cooking for dieting and fitness.”

The chef explained that apple and cardamom overnight oats are delicious ad a breakfast option that “couldn’t be easier.”

“You just soak the oats overnight and then add the apples the next day,” he said.

Ingredients:

60g porridge oats

50ml unsweetened apple juice

100ml whole milk

100g Greek yoghurt (cero percent fat)

One quarter tablespoon of ground cinnamon

One tablespoon of granulated sweetener

15g raisins

One tablespoon of honey

One apple, peeled, cored and roughly chopped

Half tablespoon of vanilla paste

A big pinch of ground cardamom

Two tablespoons of water

The chef starts by placing the porridge oats in a plastic container.

He then adds the apple juice, milk, yoghurt, cinnamon, sweetener and raisins.

“Stir well, cover with a lid and place in the fridge overnight,” he explains.

The next morning, Tom places a small non-stick frying pan over a medium to high heat.

“When hot, add the honey, apple, vanilla paste, cardamom and water,” he says.

The mix needs to cook for three to five minutes before removing from the heat.

“Take the overnight oats out of the fridge and stir in a little water to loosen the mixture,” recommends the chef.

Pour into a bowl and top with the apple mixture.

“The unexpected flavours of honey, apple, vanilla and cardamom turn a very simple recipe into an exciting and uplifting breakfast,” the chef explained.

Overnight oats for breakfast are highly beneficial for those looking to lose weight as they are very high in fibre which keeps your stomach filled for a longer period of time.
