This easy, 4-ingredient appetizer is a fun and inexpensive way to feed a crowd. They’ve got the greatest balance of sweet and salty thanks to the meat and cheese’s richness, the tomato’s acidity, and the pineapple’s juice.
Ingredients
- 1fresh pineapple, peeled and cored
- 6Canadian bacon slices, each cut into 8 pieces
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
- 4 ounces pre-shredded mozzarella cheese (about 1 cup)
- Wooden picks
- Fresh basil leaves (optional)
How to Make It
Step 1
Preheat broiler. Slice pineapple into 6 rounds. Heat a large nonstick skillet over high. Sear each pineapple slice until lightly browned, about 1 minute per side. Cut each slice into 8 chunks.
Step 2
Arrange pineapple chunks on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Top each pineapple chunk with 1 piece of Canadian bacon, 1/2 teaspoon pizza sauce, and 1 teaspoon cheese.
Step 3
Broil until cheese is melted and lightly golden, about 2 minutes. Stick each pineapple bite with a wooden pick; garnish with basil leaves, if desired. Serve warm.
