Popular restaurant chain Nando’s has announced it will be reopening for dine-in customers soon. The announcement follows the Government’s easing of lockdown rules for pubs and restaurants, with establishments finally allowed to welcome back customers for the full experience after months of being closed.

When is Nando’s reopening?

The restaurant chain has said it will reopen on Wednesday, July 8.

A Nando’s spokesperson said: “We are pleased to announce that we will be reopening 10 restaurants for eat-in service from the July 8.

“Things will be a little different and we will have more information to announce closer to the time.

“We can’t wait to open our doors and start serving Peri Peri again.”

Nando’s has gained a cult following over the years for its famous peri-peri chicken and customisable dishes.

The restaurant chain has been running a reduced menu throughout lockdown for its delivery and takeout customers.

Like many other restaurants, measures have been put in place to protect the health of staff and customers and stop the spread of coronavirus.

Changes that have been brought in include health checks for staff before every shift and fewer employees working at one time.

There will also be more frequent hand-washing and hygiene measures in place.

Which restaurants are reopening?

Nando’s will be reopening ten restaurants in its first tranche and is expected to open more throughout the coming weeks.

The following restaurants will reopen:

  • Beckton
  • Birmingham – Bullring
  • Bluewater – Winter Garden
  • Bolton – Middlebrook
  • Bromley – St Mark’s Square
  • Leeds – J27
  • Liverpool ONE
  • Manchester – Trafford Centre
  • Park Royal
  • Westfield London

What time will Nando’s be open?

According to the Nando’s website, restaurants are usually open from midday until late evening, and each restaurant has its own opening hours policy.

It is currently unclear whether Nando’s restaurants will be running on reduced hours, a choice that other popular chains have taken for reopening.

Nando’s added a reminder on its website urging anyone experiencing symptoms to stay at home.

“Please stay at home. We’re doing all we can to keep our customers and teams safe, so please help us to do that,” its website reads.

The chain first reopened six branches across Manchester and London on April 28 for deliveries only.

At the start of June, Nando’s had 216 restaurants open for delivery, takeaway or both.

Nando’s has 340 branches across the UK, and has not announced that any of these will close permanently due to coronavirus.
