Lidl is the latest supermarket to issue a food recall. It comes as the supermarket chain has revealed a popular Christmas product has the presence of the bacteria salmonella. Another product sold at Waitrose is also being recalled following milk being contained which isn’t mentioned on the packaging.

Lidl GB is recalling Deluxe Stuffed Dates due to the potential presence of salmonella.

Salmonella can trigger severe gastrointestinal symptoms including fever, diarrhoea, and abdominal cramps.

The pack size is 240g.

The best before date is  21/01/2022 and batch code 21301/196.

Lidl’s advice to anyone who has bought the above mentioned product is: “We advised you not to eat it.

“Instead, return it to a Lidl GB store for a full refund, with or without a receipt.”

The supermarket says: “No other Deluxe products in Lidl GB stores are affected by this recall.

“Lidl GB wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

It also pointed customers who had any queries or concerns to contact its Customer Service helpline on 0370 444 1234.

Waitrose also has a product being recalled; Pieminister’s Moolin Rouge Pie Chef Kits.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) said: “Pieminister is recalling Pieminister Moolin Rouge Pie Chef Kits because they contain milk which is not mentioned on the label.

“This means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.”

There are two variants of the product: Pieminister Moolin Rouge Pie Chef Kit for two and Pieminister Moolin Rouge Pie Chef Kit for two with pie dish.

For the Pieminister Moolin Rouge Pie Chef Kit for two, the pack size is 578g and the best before dates are: December 4, December 9, January 9, January 17, January 25, February, 9.

For the Pieminister Moolin Rouge Pie Chef Kit for two with pie dish, the pack size is 578g and the best before dates are January, 15 and February, 03.

As for what action Pieminister is taking, customers have “been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall”.

“The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers.

“These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the products.”

If any customer has bought one of the affected pie kits, they can call the customer care line on 0117 911 1503 to get a full refund or contact [email protected]

No other Pieminister pies, pie kits or best before dates are affected.
