If you watched The Bachelorette this week, you probably have a lot of questions. For instance:
- Do these guys always go commando? Or just when they’re wearing kilts?
- What does Luke P. like better—macaroni and cheese or spaghetti?
- Where can I get that incredibly sour candy Hannah and Mike ate on their date in Scotland?
Well, we have the answer to at least one of those queries. The Black Death, as the candy is called, clearly lived up to its name.
The tart treat is actually a popular product from Mr. Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe, a U.K.-based candy company. It even inspired its very own challenge—you can find videos of daredevils trying Mr. Simms Black Death Pips all over YouTube.
“WATCH OUT!! These sweets have an EXTREMELY sour coating which lasts approximately 20 seconds,” the product description states.

The candy even comes with a warning: “Excessive consumption within a brief time period may cause temporary mouth and/or stomach irritation,” the website cautions.
Want to try them out for yourself? A 100 gram (3.5-ounce package) is available from Mr. Simms’ website for £1.39, or about $1.76 USD.
Good luck!
