Food recalls are issued when a problem is spotted with a product. Asda has urged customers to check their fridges for its own brand cous cous.

Asda Vegetable Cous Cous

The snack has been recalled as a precaution as it may contain salmonella.

Salmonella can cause systems such as sickness, fever and stomach cramps.

Anyone who has bought the product should not eat it.

Instead, it can be returned to stores for a full refund.

An Asda statement said: “If you have purchased Asda Vegetable Cous Cous (500g), do not eat the product.

“Please bring it back to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund.”

Customers do not need a receipt to return the food.

The retailer also recalled one of its “free from” pies as it contained milk not listed on the label.
