A study found just one in four prefer glass of red wine while only 14 percent are partial to a rosé. And contrary to the popular phrase ‘it’s 5pm somewhere’, research has found that Brits believe between 6pm – 8pm is the ideal time of day to kick back with a glass of wine (42 percent). But for the times when a traditional wine glass just doesn’t cut it, adults have confessed to drinking out of alternative vessels including a sippy cup, a bowl and even a shoe (two percent).
While one in five admit to drinking theirs out of the chic, “hipster” alternative of jam jars. The research was commissioned by Sarah Jessica Parker and her Invivo X, SJP Co-founders Tim Lightbourne and Rob Cameron ahead of the release of their award-winning Sauvignon Blanc wine in Tesco stores nationwide and online.
The wine was named by Wine Spectator as one of the Top 100 wines in the world from 10,000s of wines tasted. It also found 60 percent of those polled like to enjoy a glass with dinner, with half preferring to indulge in a glass with their partner.
Interestingly, more men prefer to drink with their partner than women do (52 percent), with 41 percent of women enjoying a glass on their own, enjoying some ‘me’ time. As it starts to get darker earlier, it’s no surprise that 40 percent of Brits are most fond of drinking wine at home, with only one in 10 opting to drink out at a restaurant/bar.
To celebrate the new vintage, Sarah Jessica Parker – who has just finished filming the new Sex and the City reboot ‘And Just Like That…’ – has released an exclusive video of her latest wine tasting and blending session with jam jars, that reveals exactly what goes into making the wine behind the ‘X’.
Sarah Jessica said: “As always, my partners Tim and Rob really surprised me with the wine samples for this Sauvignon Blanc blend. This is our third vintage so the challenge each year is to make sure our new vintage is as good as previous years, given the love and respect for it from our customers but keeping true to this year’s grapes.
“It has an incredible fragrance along with a unique taste and mouth-feel but is still in-keeping with the style of a Sauvignon Blanc, which I’ve found can be more flexible than I originally thought.”
Invivo Co-founder Rob Cameron added: “Every time we blend the new vintage of Sauvignon Blanc, Sarah Jessica continues to push the style – and her blending skills are really evolving. This year’s wine has a touch of oak introduced to it – given Sarah Jessica’s love for Chardonnay – and has a lovely, soft, full-bodied palate. It’s still representative of Sauvignon Blanc with its tropical fruit aromas and a nice interplay of fruit and acid, but with Sarah Jessica’s unique handprint on it.”
Sarah Jessica Parker has mentioned that the “X’” on the wine label represents her signature Instagram sign-off “X, SJ”, and has been hand-painted by Sarah Jessica. The colourways of each of the wines in the Invivo X, SJP collection are matched to a colourway in her shoe collection, SJP Collection.
Invivo X, Sarah Jessica Parker Sauvignon Blanc and Rosé wines have been awarded thirteen GOLD medals, numerous 90-point ratings and more than 50 awards in total since launch in September 2019. Now the award-winning Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand can be purchased at Tesco stores nationwide as well as via Ocado, Wine Delivered and Harvey Nichols.
