In an effort to distract ourselves from the slow and inexorable march towards insanity in these lockdown days, many homebound amateurs have taken to baking up a storm. Once puzzles get old, it’s one of a few things that can leave you feeling accomplished without ever stepping outside.
If you happen to be one of those bakers in training and also happen to have a fascination with all things Disney, then you’re going to want to know about this particular recipe for making chocolate chip cookies that comes straight from Disney World itself. First published back in 2017, it’s resurfaced at a time when diehard Disney-heads are cut off from their beloved park and its signature treats.
Just like other recently-revealed “secret” recipes from the Disney vault, this one comes from the Disney Parks blog. First posted in honor of National Chocolate Chip Day on May 15 (which is apparently different from National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day on August 4), this particular recipe is meant to recreate the experience of lounging at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and munching on an all-american treat.

The recipe should be pretty familiar to anyone who’s baked their own cookies from scratch before, and simple enough to follow for anyone who hasn’t. In essence, you need flour, baking soda, salt, butter, brown sugar, powdered sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and—of course—chocolate chips. Not that you’re pressed for time right now, but it shouldn’t take too long to bake everything. Once they’re in the oven these cookies should be ready to go in under 15 minutes.
At this point, attentive Disney fans should have enough of a baking/cooking backlog to keep themselves busy for days. On top of this chocolate cookie recipe, you can make Dole Whip, churros, and even cookie fries. Armed with those recipes and a little imagination, you could probably turn your home into a makeshift mini version of a Disney park at this point. If you’ve got nothing better to do, that honestly seems like a pretty worthwhile project.
