A Spongebob Superfan Recreated the Nasty Patty And the Results Are Amazing

Thanks to both its hidden layers of humor and endless memeability, Spongebob Squarepants has had an incredibly successful run in the 21st century. Anyone with a social media account has probably seen Spongebob, Patrick, or Squidward on their timeline recently, and Nickelodeon renewed the show for a 13th season last year. Pretty much the only thing missing from the show’s cultural impact is a chain of Krusty Krabs dotting the landscape.

Well, how about this as the next best (or worst) thing: a real-life imitation of the infamous Nasty Patty. Posted to Facebook by Danny Jay Do, a SpongeBob fan with an abundance of cooking skills, creativity, and free time, it looks like a pretty faithful recreation of the burger cooked up by the Krusty Krab to keep fake health inspectors from claiming free food. Other than the fact that the real-life version hasn’t been fished out of a toilet with a dirty gym sock, a side-by-side comparison shows that this creation is pretty spot-on.

I present to you: The Nasty Patty from SpongeBobI made a turkey burger crusted in pea snap crumbs, a goat cheese…

Though the Krusty Krab’s version of the Nasty Patty is made with seahorse radish and toenail clippings, this recreation is, unsurprisingly, quite a bit more palatable. Do’s recipe consists of a “turkey burger crusted in pea snap crumbs, a goat cheese garlic aioli, a pea and turkey gravy, Swiss chard veins and leaf” all served on a cranberry brioche bun. From the enthusiasm of his edit to the post, it would seem that the IRL Nasty Patty is the burger that’s actually fit to be served in a restaurant.

Let that be a lesson to you: just because Bikini Bottom isn’t a real place doesn’t mean its restaurants aren’t open for business (kind of). Now if only we could order a Krusty Krab pizza for delivery…
