71 Ingredients Combined in a Single Cocktail

We have given you a lot of great, new drink recipes here at FWx but even our mixology team can’t touch this one. A Scottish bartender named Mal Spence created a cocktail to honor the 20th Commonwealth games taking place right now in Glasgow that has 71 ingredients in it—one for every nation competing. It starts with, what else, Scotch as a base, but explodes from there to include pinches and drips of everything from sorrel to taro to avocado.

If you aren’t familiar with the Commonwealth games, they are a sort of mini Olympics that occurs once every four years between all of the countries that were or are members of the British Commonwealth, including Caribbean nations, African nations and tiny islands in the South Pacific.

The cocktail, called the Commonwealth, is really quite a trick though. It seems impossible that one mixologist could pack 71 ingredients into one coupe, but somehow he managed. The Commonwealth is available at Spence’s Kelvingrove Café in Glasgow until the end of the games on August 2.
